The Night Thoreau Spent in Jail- Most of Act 1

Well I'm not quite through the first act yet but so far I am really enjoying it. Henry is quite a thinker and I love the way he talks and eleaborates on his peculiar thoughts. I think my favorite part so far was when he taught his cell mate Bailey how to spell his name. I would have never thought of letters the way that he described them. "'B-A-Beanpole-Turn the Corner-Comb-Tree" as Bailey put it.

I don't really know what I think of Waldo yet. He's a bit strange and not in the good way that Henry is. I feel as though Henry shouldn't be striving to be like Waldo as he told John on page 8. "'What do you want to be? Do you have any idea?' 'Yes, I know exactly. I want to be as much as possible like Ralph Waldo Emerson.'"
